Northamptonshire Steelbacks Men and Women head to New Road tomorrow for a T20 Double Header against Worcestershire Rapids.

The Women’s side will kick off the day at 10:30am, then the men will follow at 2:30pm.

This game will be the first T20 Blast game that the women’s side have played this season, although they have been in T20 action in recent weeks in the Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup. The Steelbacks won convincingly against both Herefordshire Women and Bedfordshire & Huntingdonshire Women, and will face Derbyshire in the next round.

The men’s side kicked off their Vitality Blast campaign in thrilling fashion last night with a tense three-run win over Glamorgan at the cinch County Ground. George Scrimshaw held his nerve and defended the final over to give the Steelbacks the perfect start to the competition. Scrimshaw finished with figures of 3/33, with his extra pace and bounce causing Glamorgan’s batters problems throughout the night.

Steelbacks Men squad news:

After missing the final two days of the Gloucestershire game and our Vitality Blast opener due to concussion protocols, Saif Zaib is back in the squad in place of Gus Miller. James Sales continues with the squad after being released from England Lions duty.

Steelbacks Women squad news:

Gemma Marriott skippers the T20 side, while Chloe Hill is expected to take back the gloves in the absence of Emma Gibbs. Seamers Bethan Robinson and Mabel Reid return to the squad, as well as Blaze loanee and former Northamptonshire pathway player Josie Groves.
