Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women made it back-to-back T20 wins after a dominant performance against Derbyshire Falcons Women at Horton House.
After restricting Derbyshire Women to 77/5 after 20 overs, the Steelbacks reached their target with more than six overs to spare.
Steelbacks won the toss and decided to bowl first at the picturesque Horton House CC.
It proved to be the right decision as the hosts took early wickets and restricted the batting side.
Bethan Robinson removed leg stump six balls into the game, while Ella Phillips bowled Duckworth and Lonsdale in the fourth over. At the end of the powerplay, the visitors were 16/3.
The tight bowling continued with the Steelbacks consistently hitting their line and length. Anisha Patel took a smart catch off her own bowling in the 12th over, and another wicket fell shortly after as a mix up between the Derbyshire batters allowed Chloe Hill to complete a run out after the throw from Lenny Sims.
Phillips was the standout of the Steelbacks bowling, finishing with figures of 2/8 from her four overs, while Anisha Patel also impressed with 1/9 from four overs.
In reply, the Steelbacks looked to utilise the powerplay and go on the front foot. Derbyshire applied early pressure however as Mabel Reid was dismissed for a duck and Amelia Kemp was bowled for four.
Captain Gemma Marriott was positive despite the early wickets. Marriott struck seven boundaries and worked her way brilliantly to 49. She unfortunately fell one short of her half century but the damage was already done, with just three runs needed for victory.
Chloe Hill hit the winning runs in the 14th over to secure a convincing six-wicket win. The margin of victory also meant that the Steelbacks secured their second bonus point of the competition and stay in third place in what is a tightly bunched table.
The Steelbacks face Derbyshire Women again next Sunday, this time in the T20 County Cup, where they will be looking to advance to the next round.
