Josh Cobb found form with a punishing 84 but Derbyshire took the points.

The Steelbacks named an unchanged side as captain Josh Cobb won the toss and elected to bat in sunny conditions at The County Ground. Ben Curran departed early which brought Cobb and Rossington together for a stand of 103. The pair both looked in fine touch as they regularly found the boundary. Josh Cobb looking particularly dangerous as he pummelled the ball into the stands and out of the ground.

Cobb posted his first half century of the tournament in 34 balls as the total passed 100 in the 12th over. Adam Rossington too reached 50 in quick time, 33 balls for the keeper-batsman but he fell shortly after, Hughes taking an excellent return catch. Wakely joined Cobb and the pair took the total to 148 before Cobb couldn’t quite find the power to clear the man on the long off fence.

The Northamptonshire innings lost momentum with both set batsmen gone and despite a brisk 27 from Alex Wakely the Steelbacks could only manage a somewhat par 180.

Derbyshire started well in their chase, Reece flying out of the gate to see the visitors reach 52 without loss after the powerplay. Reece passed 50 in 33 balls before losing Godleman at the other end, Josh Cobb winnings the captains battle when he slid one through. Madsen found his timing from ball one and never looked back. Alongside Reece, Madsen kept up with the rate with a flurry of boundaries.

Graeme White opened the door for the Steelbacks when he had Reece caught at deep midwicket for 60. Sanderson too found a breakthrough to keep the Steelbacks interested, but 16 off his next three balls all but sealed the Derbyshire win. The visitors completed their chase in the following over, taking the 2 points with a 6 wicket win.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks 180/5 (Cobb 84, Rossington 50)
