Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women kicked off their T20 Vitality Blast campaign with a 39-run win against Worcestershire Rapids at New Road.
After posting 140/6 batting first, the Steelbacks bowled the Rapids out for 101 with a clinical bowling display, which saw all six bowlers used take wickets.
After losing the toss and being made to bat first, the Steelbacks got off to watchful, but promising start with Gemma Marriot and Mabel Reid sharing an opening stand of 51 before the former was bowled by Boycott for 23.
One brought two as Amelia Kemp trapped in front and Boycott collected a second. Reid was going well for 35 at the other end but she found herself struggling and run out as she attempted a quick single in the 12th over.
Ascott and Groves also fell cheaply and the Steelbacks found themselves in trouble at 93/5.
17 from Chloe Hill and a quick-fire 29 from 19 by Alicia Presland helped the visitors to a competitive score of 140/6.
With a respectable total to defend, the Steelbacks looked to apply pressure from the opening over. Bethan Robinson picked up a wicket with the penultimate ball of the opening over, bowling Gillgrass with an excellent yorker.
Ella Phillips looked excellent early on, picking up two wickets in two balls in the fourth over. The Rapids Women were 40/4 at the end of the powerplay as Khurana was brilliant caught by a diving Josie Groves.
On the first ball after the powerplay, Anisha Patel struck, with a looping delivery bowling Tweats round her legs.
Boycott and Mitchell shared a resilient 37-run partnership but that was broken by Lenny Sims as she took a smart catch off her own bowling.
The Rapids went from 77/6 to 101 all out courtesy of wickets from Groves (2), Kemp and a run out from Reid.
The win saw the Steelbacks Women claim a well-deserved 39-run win and the perfect start to their T20 Blast campaign.
