Charlie Thurston has signed a new 1 year deal with Northamptonshire.
A local boy from Bedford, Thurston has caught the eye with improved red ball form in the second eleven this season including an impressive century in a mammoth match-winning partnership with Emilio Gay.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new deal at Northamptonshire” said Thurston.
“The club are in a really good position and it’s an exciting time for the club as a whole. I’m staying in the UK over the winter and just want to train as hard as I can and look to get a more permanent place in the first team next year, I really aspire to play in all three formats for the club.”
“I’m closer to the white ball side but I’ve worked hard on my red ball cricket this year in the twos, I’ve scored a decent amount of runs and hopefully next year I’ll push my case further forward to play more regularly in the ones in red ball cricket.
Head Coach David Ripley was glad to give Thurston another chance to kick on moving into the 2020 season.
“We want to build on what Charlie has achieved this year with consistency in all three formats. He’s pushed on in red ball, scoring some tough runs. He’s got an even temperament, a cracking lad with some inner steel and he really wants to succeed, he’s earnt his opportunity. He brings a calmness to the group, he’s a local guy and feels like one of our own.”
