Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Justin Broad has signed a contract extension until the end of 2028.

Broad signed an extension to 2026 earlier this year but has been rewarded for his excellent form throughout this year’s campaign.

“I’m delighted to sign an extension with Northamptonshire,” said the 25-year-old.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here since joining and am extremely thankful for the opportunity they gave me.” He added.

Since being awarded a professional contract in 2023, Broad has continued to show his class and has scored 1,123 runs across all three formats.

The all-rounder has averaged just under 50 with the bat in the Rothesay County Championship this year. Broad struck back-to-back 150s in the competition, with a mammoth career-best of 171 against Derbyshire back in July.

This year, Broad has reached new heights and received deserved recognition. On the big stage, he held the Steelbacks innings together on Finals Day, scoring a majestic unbeaten 61. Across the T20 campaign, the 25-year-old struck three half centuries and displayed his brilliant ability to adapt, coming out to bat in different positions and scenarios in the game.

As well as impressive performances with the bat, he’s shown to be a useful option with the ball, taking 29 wickets across all formats.

Looking at the next few years, Broad was excited to continue developing at the Club.

“I’ve loved working with all the coaches this year and am excited to work with them over the next few years, continuing to improve my game and hopefully helping Northamptonshire to reach the goals that we have set out to achieve.”

Head Coach Darren Lehmann was thrilled to lock down the future of such an important player.

“Justin’s been outstanding for us this season and has been really impressive to watch.

“He’s performed brilliantly in all formats so we’re delighted to be keeping him at the Club.

“He’s a future leader of the Club and the way he goes about his work is exceptional.”
