A century from Justin Broad and four wickets from Gus Miller ensured that Northamptonshire 2XI secured a 140-run win on the final day at The County Ground.
Needing 381 to win, Loughborough UCCE were bowled out for 240 in the 54th over.
The third and final day started with Northamptonshire 235/3 with Broad and Louis Kimber at the crease. The intent was clear from the outset as the pair upped the rate to set up a run chase. Kimber brought up his fifty from 45 balls and in the following over, Broad reached three figures with a fierce pull shot.
Kimber was dismissed for 50 which brought van der Merwe to the crease. van der Merwe and Broad put on 54 from 41 balls and when Broad was caught in the deep on 132, the declaration came with the 2XI 365/5.
In similar fashion to the first innings, Loughborough UCCE came out the traps quickly, with Weston and Edavalath bringing up their 50 partnership in the 11th over.
Weston was bowled by Leech in the 15th over by one that jagged back and the 2XI struck quickly again as Jani pulled straight to Kimber in the following over.
Another wicket fell as Edavalath looked to cut Zaib away, however he feathered through to Adam Fox behind the stumps.
With Loughborough 92/3, the visitors needed to halt the Northamptonshire momentum to stay in the game. Aadi Sharma played very well but wickets continued to fall around him and at tea, Loughborough were 175/5.
Sharma brought up his half century three balls into the final session of the game but he could only add 11 more before he was caught by Broad in the slips off the bowling of Miller.
Miller picked up the remaining three wickets in quick fashion and Loughborough were all out for 240. The all-rounder finished with figures of 4/40 from 11.5 overs.
Zaib finished with two wickets and six in the match, while Keogh, Leech, Scrimshaw and Kimber ended with a wicket apiece.
