Northamptonshire 2XI beat Durham 2XI late on during the final day to make it four wins from four in the Second XI Championship.

Arush Buchake and Krish Patel both hit half centuries, while James Sales scored 40 to help the 2XI successfully chase 287 in the final two sessions.

After day 2 finished with the 2XI 241/6, they declared overnight giving Durham 2XI the chance to set a target and force a result.

Durham batted for 27 overs and declared on 160/2. Max Hunt and Arafat Bhuiyan taking the only wickets and Jonathan Bushnell top scoring for the hosts with an unbeaten 71.

Arush Buchake and Aum Raykar started proceedings for Northamptonshire but the opening stand was quickly broken as Brandon Glover had Raykar caught behind in the fourth over.

After a fluent looking 40 in the first innings, Krish Patel joined Buchake and immediately started to make inroads into the target.

The pair shared a stand of 105 for the second wicket, with Patel looking fluent yet again for a very well-made 63. The young batter struck ten 4s but fell just before the tea break, leaving the 2XI 138/2 heading into the final session.

Buchake brought up his fifty not long into the final session from 76 balls and was joined by a resilient and determined James Sales.

Buchake and Sales continued to take chunks out of the Durham target, sharing a partnership of 75.

However, the partnership was broken in the 37th over and momentum shifted significantly as Buchake was LBW to Whitfield and Sales was caught behind in the 38th over.

Now 186/4 and still needing just over 100 runs, another wicket fell in the 39th over, this time Aadi Sharma the victim of Whitfield.

The two new batters at the crease, Charlie Oldershaw and Jordan Strydom shared a crucial 48 run partnership but the 2XI still needed just over 50 runs to win.

23 from Oldershaw, 33 from Strydom and 17 from Heldreich left Fowler and Keeling-Wright with less than 20 to win.

It was all over in the 59th over as Keeling-Wright hit two boundaries, securing a brilliant two-wicket win after a fascinating 3 days of action at Darlington CC
