We are pleased to confirm the fixtures for Northamptonshire’s 2XI for the 2024 season.
The 2XI’s first four day game begins on the 15th April when they host Glamorgan 2XI at Dunstable Town CC, with a three day warm up fixture against Leeds Bradford University taking place on the 10th April.
The T20 fixtures begin on the 14th May against Durham at Campbell Park for the 2XI, with a return to The County Ground on the 10th July for two T20’s against Worcestershire.
2XI Head Coach Graeme White is excited to get the season underway again.
“It’s been a really good winter, there’s been a lot of hard work done by the players and I think it’s at this time of year you’re thinking about that first ball being bowled.” White said.
“My sole focus is on the players, I’ve got my coaching hat on now and I’m able to make some real inroads and do extra work with them.”
With players such as Justin Broad and Raphy Weatherall showcasing the opportunities available to progress through the 2XI, White believes that the experiences gained are crucial for player development.
“The 2XI is massive for us, we truly believe that having our own players coming through the system is essential and obviously one of the most important things for everyone.
“Coming into this year I want players to be driving the standards and having a mentality of putting the team first which will see us learn and drive each other forward throughout the season.”
There are two 50 over friendlies this year, with both against London Schools’ Cricket Association on the 5th and 9th August.
Focus quickly turns back to the longer format in August with a three day fixture against the South Asian Cricket Academy on the 12th August and White is expecting a tough test from the side.
“SACA always provide a great test and are one of the strongest sides around with the pool of players and the quality they have so it’s always good to see them going from strength to strength.” Said White.
